The festival enriched us to a great extent. Among all other events meditation helped us a lot in improving our self realisation and patience.

Youth Festivals

1ST YOUTH FESTIVAL

FOR VALUE-BASED SOCIETY - 1997

 

A unique festival was organised at Brahmakumaris Academy for a Better World, Mt. Abu from 1st to 5th Oct., 1997. Festival was aimed at motivating youth to devote their energies to create a better society and develop a positive attitude towards their art. 6 competitions, 8 workshops, seminar session, picnic, positive change course session, street plays, value games etc. were the centre of attractions. 17 Universities and 9 youth institutions actively participated in the festival. There were 200 competitors, 600 observers and 40 dignitories played the role of judges in various competitions and speakers in other sessions.

The grand reception on the eve of inauguration made the festival live. 6 motorbikes followed by kumaris with kalash, a group with lazims, a group showing marshal art and a group exhibiting folk dances slowly marched towards the main Hall. Then followed the group of universities with their flags and banners.The procession stopped near the main gate of the hall, hundreds of balloons and kites were flied making the evening more colourful.

The festival was inaugurated by Prof. S. B.Vora, Vice-chancellor of the Gujrat University.

The Finale of the festival was presided by the Chairperson of the Jurist Wing of R.E.& R.F., Bro. Ramesh Shah and the Chief Guest was Bro. Vinod Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of the Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad. Three universities were awarded for the best performance - Indira Kala Sangit Vishwa Vidyalaya, Khairagarh, Rani Durgavati Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur and Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar.

With a new ray of hope and a deep affection for a spiritual life-style and suggestions of arranging such festivals each year, the young people said good-bye.


2ND YOUTH FESTIVAL

TOWARDS NEW ERA THROUGH CREATIVITY - 1998

 

The 2nd youth festival-1998 was held at Brahmakumaris Academy for a Better World, Mount Abu from 16th to 20th September, 1998 focusing on "New Era through Creativity." About 1200 youths representing 31 universities, institutions and organisations from all parts of the country and 20 judges for various competitions participated in the festival.

The festival consisted of the following 10 different competitions:

  • Elocution : Ideas and plans of youth for creating a new society, Awakening the dormant creative intelligence through meditation.

  • Essay Writing : Art of concentration through meditation, Creativity - a tool for progress, Role of youth in moral and social reconstruction.

  • Self Authored poem : My vision of the new century, Supreme Creation

  • Painting : War and Peace, Divine power, Let us bring heaven on earth.

  • Monoacting :Tolerance, Fearlessness, It is all for the best.

  • Skit : Challenges of self-change, Divine Love, Youth - the Golden period.

  • Best from Waste : House of Worship

  • Portrait and Folk Dance.

It was also discussed and deliberated in the planery and seminar sessions on the topics such as "Marching from the Present Period of Darkness unto the Golden Dawn", "Rajyoga Meditation - Spiritual journey towards perfection" etc. Discussions were also held in seven workshops on the topics of significance like :

  • Value of relationship

  • Youth as an ideal citizen

  • Freeing oneself from examination phobia

  • Sound mind in the sound body

  • Purity is the mother of peace and bliss.

The festival was inaugurated by Shri Govind Singh Kanjla, Minister of State, Youth Services,Government of Punjab. The festival was also graced by Shri S.Chandra Mohan Reddy, Minister for Youth Services, Government of Andhra Pradesh. The Valedictory and the prize distribution was graced by Shri Y.Ramakrishnudu, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Andhra Pradesh. Rajyogini Dadi Prakash Maniji , Chief of Brahmakumaris blessed the festival.


3rd YOUTH FESTIVAL

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT- A CLARION CALL - 1999

The third All-India Youth Festival on Spiritual Empowerment - A Clarion Call was organised from 30 Aug. to 3rd Sept.,1999 at the Shantivan complex. In her inaugural address, Dadi Prakash Maniji told the 1,500 participants that "with the awareness of the latent spiritual potential in yourself, you must come forward to transform today’s Bharat into the Golden Bharat of tomorrow." Film actor Sudesh Berry and TV artist Bhairavi Raichura were the star attractions of the festival.

The festival included a seminar on "spiritual empowerment - a clarion call" which featured as Chief Guest N.L.Parmar, Zonal Director, West Zone, Nehru Yuva Kendra. Five parellel workshops were held on the topics: Youth - the instruments for removing the Generation Gap, Solution to present day problems - Spiritual powers, Coming events cast their shadows before.. There were other sessions on Rajyoga, Positive Change, Peace Realisation and an evening cultural event.

The festival featured 6 competitions in which 450 youth representing 22 universities and 20 youth institutions, actively participated. The valedictory and prize distribution sessions were presided over by Bro. B.K. Brij Mohan, Editor of Purity, a monthly newspaper.

National Integration Camps - 2001

 

With the support of Ministry of youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India NICs were organised throughout the country. A series of youth festivals was hosted which included seven National Integration camps to give geogrophical coverage to the entire lenght and breadth of our vast country and a Finale at the National Capital.

The five days’ programmes at each of these residential camps included activities oriented towards bringing about religious, linguistic, social and cultural integration besides aiming at developing values like tolerence, peace, cooperation, responsibilty etc. Inculcation of these values help creating an awareness for harmonious relationships at all levels - be it family, society, competitions, sharing of experiences and guidance by the experts during the camps.

There were nearly 200-250 participants in each camp. These camps were held at Bathinda, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kolhapur, Agartala, Raipur and Bangalore. After completion of the camps at regional levels, the finale of the festival was organised in Delhi from 18-22 December, 2001

Two sessions on career guidance were appreciated by the participants. Maximum no. of participants and organisations participated in this NIC.

 

Bathinda : 250 Participants

Media response was very good. Rotary Club, Bathinda Cantt. arranged Medical Counter free of cost on all the four days.

 

Jaipur : 301 Participants

Huge procession with involvement of majority of the leading educational institutes of the city before the inauguration. Equal and good response from both the states and the UTs.

 

Raipur : 210 Participants

Maximum eminent personalities from different fields visited the festival. Invitation for NIC every year.

 

Bangalore : 183 Participants

Procession of 100 cyclists flagged off from Vidhan Sowdha of Karnataka by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports

 

Kolhapur : 209 Participants

Parellel 3 day personality development camp at local branch.

 

Agartala : 200 Participants

Most of the participants pledged for vegetarion life-style.

Many follow-up invitations were received within short period

The series of NICs and the youth festivals was inaugurated in Ahmedabad by the Chief Minister of Gujrat Bro. Narendra Modi in the presence of Dadi RatanMohini,Chairperson of the Wing, Governor of Lions International Clubs-Dist. 323-B Bro. Jitendra Shah, BK Sarlaben- Director-Gujrat Zone. 70 youth dignitories joined in the candle lighting ceremony. Nearly 6000 people participated in the function. Collection of 25 bottles of blood and cleaning of a village were the highlighting events.

 

Raipur : 21 - 27 November

Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhatisgarh, Delhi, Goa

Before Inaugural function, beautiful musical evening was the centre of attraction.The group was the most intelligent one. A big no. of participants were from Muslim community. It was experienced that youth may come from any culture or religion but they have their emotional attachment with spirituality, we only need to provide them right direction towards their beliefs and basic values.

 

Hyderabad : 28 Nov. - 04 December

Karnataka, Kerala, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Pondicherry, Lakshdweep, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh

The Camp was inaugurated by the Speaker of AP Legislative Assembly - Bro. K R Reddy. He said it is now right time to start with Knit India Movement after Quit India Movement. Value games stall & 67 bottles of blood were the major atrractions of the Camp.

 

Guwahati : 05 - 11 December

Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura , Meghalaya, Assam

Before the inaugural program, a huge rally was organised wherein more than 700 youth participated wholeheartedly. The participants loved the vegetarian food and the unforgetable sustainance during the Camp.

A well-known local actor entertained the group in the Valedictory program. The young generation is quite concerned about national integrity as they are affected a lot by acts of terrorism in North-East states.

Kolkata : 12 - 18 December

Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand, Sikkim, West Bengal

71 bottles of bllod was collected here. A national hockey player attented the whole camp and said that I am going with a new identity of my and it has helped alot in developing my concentration and sportsman spirit.

 

Chandigarh : 24 - 30 December

Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal

Maximum universities turned up in this camp.68 bottles blood was collected. All the team managers were always found in the first row in all the sessions. Everyday in the evenings, the cultural exchange program was the salient feature and camp fire was the unforgatable event in this camp.

Youth is a perpectual intoxication; it is the fever of reason.
