Awakening the Power Within

Today’s youth stand at a crossroads of immense potential and persistent distraction. Carelessness appears in ignored responsibilities, reckless posts, unsafe choices, missed deadlines, and neglected relationships.

Excuse-making follows—blaming circumstances, stress, traffic, or time while avoiding accountability and delaying action.

Laziness grows through excessive sleeping, endless scrolling, binge-watching, skipped workouts, and postponed goals.

Daily life reflects these habits: texting while driving, sharing misinformation, saying “tomorrow,” blaming network issues, waking late, and neglecting health.

Yet change is possible. Through Rajyoga meditation, spirituality, and self-awareness, youth discover purpose, discipline, and inner strength. Mindful living replaces avoidance with responsibility and resilience. When awareness awakens, excuses fade, energy rises, and purposeful action begins—shaping confident individuals and a stronger, value-driven future for society.

“Lighting the Path to a Drug-Free Future”

As we step into the festive months of November and December, filled with the radiance of Diwali, the spirit of Guru Nanak Jayanti, and the joy of Christmas, the Youth Wing is delighted to share the success of our nationwide campaign, “Drug-Free Youth – Developed India.”

With over 600 events organized across the country, young people pledged to lead healthy, addiction-free lives and to contribute to building a self-reliant India by 2047. Inspiring talks, cultural performances, and collective Rajyoga practice ignited the flame of determination in young hearts.

Just as festivals celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, this campaign illuminated minds against the shadows of addiction. We thank every service centre and volunteer for their tireless efforts and look forward to sustaining this spirit of transformation.

Discovering the Power of Self-Respect

Who am I, and whose am I? This pure awareness must always remain unshaken. Too often, our feelings for ourselves weaken—we blame fate, situations, or the drama of life. Even small complaints cloud the soul, leaving us restless and incomplete.

The truth is, until I am at peace with myself, how can I bring happiness to others? Self-disturbance blocks the flow of joy we wish to share. The solution lies within: reclaim self-pride, not as arrogance, but as recognition of one’s unique worth.

Each of us is a special soul, gifted with individuality and purpose. When we learn to be satisfied with who we are, we radiate positivity, uplift others, and live life with dignity and fulfillment.

Cultivating Resilience – A Spiritual Skill for Today’s Youth

The Youth Wing of the Brahma Kumaris is proud to organize an awareness campaign focusing on the development of spiritual skills among youth, in celebration of World Youth Skills Day on 15th July. This year, we have chosen the theme of “Resilience”, recognizing its vital role in navigating the complexities of modern youth life.

Today’s youth often encounter setbacks in the form of failure, rejection, health challenges, lack of family support, or unequal educational opportunities. In such times, resilience becomes not just a helpful trait but a spiritual necessity — enabling one to stand strong, adapt, and grow through adversity.

Inspiring examples like cricketer Rishabh Pant and mountaineer Arunima Sinha remind us how resilience can transform challenges into achievements. Both individuals exemplify courage, optimism, and inner strength in the face of life-altering hardships.

Resilient behaviour involves:

  • Recognizing and celebrating one’s strengths,
  • Grabbing opportunities with courage,
  • Persevering despite obstacles, and
  • Remaining committed to positive outcomes.

On this occasion, I invite every young individual to identify one spiritual skill—be it patience, determination, self-respect, or inner peace—and consciously nurture it in daily life. Let this World Youth Skills Day be a turning point toward building inner strength and unwavering resilience.

With warm wishes and spiritual enthusiasm

BK Chandrika, Chairperson – Youth Wing, RERF

Building Resilience in Today’s Youth

In a fast-changing and often unpredictable world, resilience has become more important than ever—especially for young people. Resilience is more than just the ability to recover from setbacks; it’s the strength to adapt, grow, and move forward with purpose, even when life gets tough.

Today’s youth face a wide range of challenges: academic pressure, limited resources, mental stress, and sometimes even traumatic events. These difficulties can feel overwhelming, but they also offer opportunities to build resilience—a mindset that transforms struggle into strength.

Developing resilience means learning to face obstacles with confidence and flexibility. It involves picking up new skills, staying open to change, and viewing challenges not as roadblocks but as stepping stones. Whether it’s adapting to a new environment, coping with failure, or managing stress, resilient individuals push forward rather than give up.

Spirituality, too, can play a key role in strengthening resilience. It provides a sense of purpose, inner peace, and the ability to reflect deeply during hard times. When combined with practical coping strategies, this inner strength can guide young people through adversity with clarity and hope.

Ultimately, building resilience is about believing in your ability to bounce back and thrive. It’s not about avoiding difficulties, but about learning how to navigate them with courage and determination. If youth are encouraged to foster resilience, they’ll be better prepared to face the future—and shape it, too.

Transforming our daily lives doesn’t require monumental shifts; often, it’s the small acts that lead to significant change. For instance, starting your day with a few minutes of meditation or journaling can set a positive tone and enhance focus. Keeping a reusable water bottle handy encourages regular hydration, making it easier to drink a glass of water before each meal.

Designating specific times to unplug from screens, especially social media, can reduce stress and improve mental well-being. Practicing gratitude by writing down three things you’re thankful for each day can shift your mindset and boost happiness. Spending a little time each week meal prepping not only saves time but also encourages healthier eating habits.

Incorporating short walks into your routine, whether during lunch or after dinner, boosts physical health and clears your mind. Connecting with friends or family by reaching out regularly strengthens relationships and fosters a sense of community. Taking a few minutes each day to declutter a small area in your home creates a more organized and peaceful space.

Making eco-friendly choices, such as opting for reusable bags and containers when shopping, contributes to a more sustainable lifestyle. Finally, taking time to savor meals without distractions enhances digestion and appreciation for food.

By weaving these small acts into your daily routine, you can cultivate a more intentional and fulfilling lifestyle. Over time, these changes can lead to a greater sense of well-being and connection to your environment.

Prerna (Inspiration) 4 – a festival of Zeal, Purity, and Spiritual Progress

The national youth festival held in September at the Brahma Kumaris Campus Shantivan, Abu Road, Rajasthan, marks four decades of tireless contribution of the Youth Wing to development of essential values among young people from all walks of life.

In the quest for spiritual growth, zeal, purity, and spiritual progress are vital elements that support and enhance one another.

Zeal is the driving passion and enthusiasm that energizes our spiritual practices. It keeps us motivated and dedicated but must be balanced with patience and wisdom to avoid burnout or extremism.

Purity refers to the clarity of our intentions and the cleanliness of our actions and thoughts. It’s about aligning with higher principles and cultivating virtues while overcoming personal vices. Purity helps create a harmonious environment for spiritual growth.

Spiritual Progress is the journey of personal transformation, moving from ignorance to awareness and interconnectedness. It’s marked by a growing sense of peace and purpose, evolving through periods of both rapid growth and challenge.

These three elements are interlinked: zeal fuels our commitment, purity guides our intentions, and progress reflects the successful integration of both. Together, they form a dynamic process that leads us closer to our spiritual essence and fulfillment.

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, amidst the constant clamor of notifications and the incessant chatter of media, the value of silence often goes unnoticed. Yet, silence holds a profound magic, a break from the cacophony that surrounds us, a sanctuary for reflection, and a source of profound wisdom.

A national Youth Retreat on “Magic of Silence” was organised at Gyan Sarovar, Academy for a better world, Mount Abu, Rajasthan by the Youth Wing (RERF) and the Brahma Kumaris.

Over 400 young participants from across India engaged in exploring various aspects of silence during the recent retreat. They brainstormed into topics such as overcoming resistance and tension in silence, understanding the silence of others, and practicing silence in relationships learning when and how much. Through discussions, activities, and workshops, the primary goal was to recognize silence as a strength rather than a weakness. The retreat aimed to equip youth with tools and techniques to experience and harness the power of silence for personal growth and social benefit.

Building on this energy, the organization is planning two upcoming events: “IMPActs” (Important Acts) for International Youth Day on August 12, 2024, aimed at empowering youth through positive action. And the “Prerna-4 Youth Festival” in September 2024.

Greetings of International Youth Day.
