Don’t get sucked in by Wins or Losses

Wins and Losses are part of our lives and, everyone of us loves to win more than losing. That is because the wins give us the feeling of happiness while the losses give us the feeling of sadness, despair, self-doubts, etc.

Once Buddha said, “It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles” and, this stands true even today.

This quote makes you dive in deep within and you start thinking what does it really mean. It means focusing on the self during various situations that life takes you through. Sometimes we may win and sometimes we may lose but, the aim should be to ensure we don’t get sucked in either of them.

Winning – what it does?

We know that winning makes us happy but, it is a result of the many right things we have done which finally bought us victory. After a win, we all love to celebrate, share the news with friends and relatives, give a treat to ourselves and all of it makes us feel nice but, the suck starts when we spend a lot of time or energy focusing on it as this can sometimes be counterproductive.

Yes, we should celebrate but not spend a lot of time behind it because sometimes that may take our mind off the current task at hand and, we may get overconfident or overexcited while doing things which can lead to mistakes.

Losing – what it does?

A loss invokes negative emotions like stress, anxiety, self-doubt, etc. within us which, takes us into a hole of dark clouds. The loss can sometimes happen due to our carelessness and, sometimes due to others’ carelessness but actually, the fault is somewhere ours because we may sometimes misread the situation, the person, or even our mind.

The loss has happened and we are able to do anything about it but, one thing we can do is not to get sucked in by it. The suck happens when we keep thinking about what went wrong rather than focusing on what could have been done in the right way. Have a positive approach by concentrating the self on solutions.

To conclude, all I can say and, you would agree too, is that situations in our lives are like a heartbeat. The ups and the downs are important to make life complete. The only thing that matters is not to get sucked in and spend too much time thinking about it. Learn the lessons, take the experience and keep moving forward.

That’s Life. Don’t Stop, Let’s Rock!
