(An understanding of conservation for the Thinking Energy)

Any guesses what is the most common reason behind tension, worry, anxiety in today’s world? It is due to over thinking. Over thinking has been deemed as the one of core reasons for depression as well. Overthinking involves reliving past incidents, imagining future scenarios, pondering over other’s opinions, comparing ourselves to others and so on. We have all been guilty of doing these things and normalizing them in our living thus creating a culture of “waste”. These unnecessary thoughts are also termed as “waste thoughts” because in essence they carry zero value for our development. It is loaded with negative energy and makes us feel heavy so we have no energy left to do anything constructive. Have there been times when you have felt like you just can’t go on and that it takes tremendous strength to even reply to an email or make tea? It could very well be that somewhere there is energy leakage which needs to be stopped. Our soul is burdened by waste and we need to let go and lighten up.

We can draw parallels to this situation in nature as well. In fact in the natural world the word waste does exist. In an ecosystem everything is of some value to some creature or plant or component and thus the word “waste” does not exist. This is what makes nature an effective self cleaning system and in this state, nature is called perfect or pristine or even heaven. A symbiotic relationship between nature and humans is possible when there is no waste dumping into river streams, oceans and soils. When man-made waste starts to enter the ecosystem, the delicate balance is lost and as a result we see catastrophic natural calamities and the looming climate change danger that we know very well by now. Nowadays there are even many advocates and influencers of zero-waste lifestyle or plastic-free living. This is because it has gradually dawned on us the impact of the harm these waste materials cause to the environment and our lives. There are efforts from around the world grassroot levels to governmental policies to eliminate waste. So why not take this one step further and examine the environment inside of our minds? Then it becomes apparent that a massive cleanup is needed for the hour. Both inside and outside.

Let us make this transition to work towards cleaning our minds, purifying our thoughts and being very economical in its usage. Three favourite words of our spiritual giant Dadi Janki are – Sacchai, safai and sadhgi – Truth, cleanliness and simplicity. Let’s live by these values and make our journey on this earth as light as possible.
