Forever 25: A Journey from Parenting to Playfulness
Forever 25: A Journey from Parenting to Playfulness
“You said you were twenty-five last year too?” my colleague chuckled, eyeing the birthday balloons and messages flashing across my phone screen. “And today again—you’re still twenty-five? Hmm… something fishy!”
He grinned and turned to another teammate.
“Her son is twenty-five, and she’s twenty-five! Next year, he’ll be twenty-six… and she’ll still be twenty-five?”
I smiled wide—beaming from ear to ear.
You see, parenting has become a joyful play for me ever since I connected with the Brahma Kumaris during the lockdown in 2020. Before that, caught in the tinted lenses of body-consciousness, parenting felt like pressure. My son appeared rebellious, unpredictable, and difficult. I often worried—how will I manage the teen years, the workload, the financial strain?
But something magical happened after the divine connection.
I began to see my child as a unique soul on his own beautiful journey. No longer a “defiant teenager,” he became a being of potential. When he scored 64% in his 12th grade exams, it became a moment of genuine joy and contentment—for he had given it his best.
“You’re lucky, Mom,” he joked, “you don’t need to buy five kilos of sweets to distribute like the 95% kids’ parents do.”
And I smiled again—not out of sarcasm or disappointment, but from a deep inner acceptance.
This doesn’t mean I’ve grown complacent. It simply means I’ve learned to trust his pace, his growth, and his path. Through meditation, introspection, and connection with the Supreme Soul, I’ve embraced the timelessness and agelessness of the soul. My role as a parent is just that—a role on this shared flight of life.
Spirituality has taught me to rise above—like being on top of a serene mountain, observing each soul’s scene with love and clarity. I’ve stopped trying to control, and started simply being—being there, being light, being free. And something amazing happened: my child also found freedom to just be.
The result?
A transformation from the inside out.
The body feels lighter, more radiant. The spirit is youthful, strong, and at peace. The soul, once bound by roles and expectations, now dances with divine energy.
Our relationship today is calm, connected, and quietly joyful. Some bonds, some emotions—go beyond words. They can’t be described in a worldly dictionary. They are simply felt.
And that’s why, at the office, my colleagues laugh and joke:
“Her son is turning twenty-six… and she’s still forever twenty-five!”
And I just smile.
Because truly, when the soul shines, the age becomes just a number.
